January 2017: WOCInRomance

Welcome to the first month of HEAling the World!

HEAling the World is one way for the romance community to work towards the happily-ever-after we want for our world. Every month for eighteen months, romance authors will share favorite charities or organizations. And today Rebekah Weatherspoon is here to talk about Women of Color in Romance!

Processed with MOLDIV

1. The organization: WOCInRomance.

2. What do they do? WOCInRomance (Women of Color In Romance) seeks to promote romance novels written by women of color. Through our website, twitter, tumblr, and facebook, we highlight as many new romance novels as possible every week. We’ve found that when readers want to support authors of color, it’s sometimes hard to know where to start, so why not make things a little easier?

3. How is this organization building a better future, and why is its work important to you? There is a great deal of racial discrimination in romance publishing, as in publishing in general. By highlighting these authors we hope to at least try to level the playing field through increased exposure.

4. Where can people donate? WOCINR is always taking monthly contributions through our Patreon.

5. The giveaway! The first 5 $10 donors will receive the following e-books:

Iris After The Incident by Mina V. Esguerra
Fit (#1 in the Fit Trilogy) by Rebekah Weatherspoon
A Perfect Holiday Fling by Farrah Rochon
Cabin Fever by Audra North
Let It Shine by Alyssa Cole

Raised in Southern New Hampshire, Rebekah Weatherspoon now lives in Southern California where she finally found her love for writing romance. Her BDSM romance At Her Feet won the Golden Crown Literary Award for erotic lesbian fiction and most recently her novella FIT (#1 in the FIT Trilogy) won the Romantic Times Book Reviews Reviewers’ Choice Award for Best Erotica Novella. You can find out more about Rebekah and her books at www.rebekahweatherspoon.com.

Just comment on this post to let us know you’ve donated! (Donors at the $10 level also get to be in the super awesome monthly book club AND nominate for the monthly book, plus get exclusive content.) Rebekah will check it against the Patreon records and contact you with your e-books.
